Heroes Of Newerth Free To Play Changes

Big announcement: f2p accounts will now have access to all heroes.

People that paid $30 almost 3 years ago and have gotten thousands of hours of entertainment (and rage) from that shitty little investment are getting mad.

This is the biggest slap in the face to long time supporters of your game S2,and I am really thinking of moving on to Dota 2 because of this. Been supporting this game since early beta and all we get now is a increased silver coins depending on our level? If anything legacy players because of this change should get access to all current HoN store cosmetic items for free. It seems to me your business department has no idea how to manage or maintain a single system of business because every 6 months you keep changing your policies because clearly something isn’t working. In my opinion f2p was the worse decision you made from a business standpoint and should have just kept the pay once business model…but that is all in the past and I feel truly let down now. If any future s2 games release I’ll definitely know not to even think about buying it because 6 months to a year later you will just f uck everyone who purchased the game anyway. Seriously though ALL THESE YEARS OF SUPPORT AND ALL WE GET IS INCREASED SILVER COINS…you guys have no idea what you are doing and it is really apparent.

What a dumb ass. This is a great change and will surely bring in many more players.

 

Will Early Access continue?
Yes, Early Access will still be available in the HoN Store.

Will I continue to receive heroes for free after Early Access ends?
After Early Access ends, the hero will be added to the general hero pool and will be available for free to all players.

What will happen to Verified and Basic?
Verified and Basic will continue to be in place to protect against trolling players and players who create multiple accounts. As with before, you must either reach account level 5 or make a purchase in HoN in order for your account to become Verified.

How does the new Legacy Bonus work?
All Legacy accounts will receive two bonus silver coins upon completing a ranked (i.e. non-Mid Wars) matchmaking game.

What happens if I purchased a hero in the past?
On top of now having access to all heroes for free, players will be refunded for hero purchases made since July 5th. Refunds are scheduled to be applied shortly after the patch on July 20th.

How does this benefit me?

  1. All game modes will become available to all players, no tokens or passes required. This means you should see shorter queue times on your favorite modes outside of All Pick.
  2. All players will be on a level playing field. HoN is a competitive game and having access to more than 16 heroes is crucial to a fair gaming experience.
  3. New players will now have the ability to play heroes and learn how best to utilize their abilities through gameplay, rather than trying to figure it out playing against them.
  4. When you invite your friends to play the game, you know that your friend will be able to have the same experience as you.

I’d just like to voice my opinion on this alt.

Being South African I am honestly insulted by what you have done. I am by no means a big Shaka follower, nor do I normally get my back up but this alt is a huge mess.
reasons

1. The shield looks nothing like what it should. It should be simply black and white
2. the voice sounds like the Aztec God from Black and white, Nothing like what it should.
- some of the words are perfectly fine however I do not for a second find that voice to what it should be
3. What is that rubbish coming out of his shield? with the red ****
4. is that honestly a feather on his spear?????
5. what clothes is he wearing.

I don’t go around making Native Americans models dressing them in Jaguar skills and heads, making them hold a tomahawk with a Justin Bieber pendant hanging off it.
Because this would be cross cultured. What you have done here is taken someone big in history and cross cultured him to part Native American with a bit of Aztec in there

Someone Get the Ritalin!

Ho. Lee. Shit.

Long story short; S2 fucks up their servers, game is down for 24 hours, they scramble to fix. Servers so fucked that they have to roll back to June 9th. Stats, coins, etc. are lost.

The wonderful community’s response to this was overwhelmingly positive and supportive.

Positively atrocious and as supportive as an old worn out jock strap.

s2 should have just locked the forums during this downtime. Seriously, NOTHING GOOD will ever come from the HoN forums. They have tried cleaning them up, segregating posts, and other tactics that would work in a sane community, but S2 needs to come to grips that the portion of HoN’s playerbase that frequents the forums is completely and utterly hopeless.

Start focusing on the people that don’t have a fucking Aspergers tantrum every time something doesn’t go their way and release the home address of every person with more than one post in a QQ thread. Only then can the game flourish.

Ever since WaC and robertXlee left for league. DRD has been crippled.

Riot Games has done an excellent job of bringing players over, despite being a game which requires less skill in terms of less strategies (No buybacks, no gold loss, no trilanes)

Daggius, Raven and I and many other pro hon players tried League of Legends for the first time when HON was DDOS-ed.

Its been almost a week since the DDOS and HON still can’t keep their servers stable.

They release a new hero every 2 weeks and never balance them till 6 months later. When Riot Games release a hero, they look at community feedback and balance accordingly. In the recent honcast podcast, the S2 dude totally dodged the question even though its blatantly obvious as daylight that silhouette is broken and overpowered as hell.

There has been countless threads about silhouette being overpowered which get locked/deleted by the mods in forums. S2 is going around silencing the community when it tries to reach out to them instead of trying to fix their own servers.

How many times have good ideas reached S2 only to be ignored and not replied? A good example is the ARDM post by swindlemelonzz. Still no action taken after months, even though there is high demand. The only thing they listen to is disgusting rampage alt avatar ideas that no1 cares about.

Now look here S2. Free tips for you to get your customers to like you more.

1. Compensate for the lost DDOS downtime by giving everyone 100 coins or something like Riot Games did( LEARN FROM THE GAME THAT HAS 8X YOUR PLAYERDATA BASE)

2. Nerf silhouette

3. Listen to the community

4. Stop releasing broken new heroes every patch (Its obvious you’re trying to make the new heroes overpowered so that the unique hon heroes will see action in competitive HoN. (Myrmidon, silhouette banned every game, Aluna) Like seriously, Aluna and silhouette have the most overpowered attack animations in the game.

This just in, once dota 2 comes out. The competitive scene will become more of a joke. Honcast viewers will stop tuning in because alot of teams will move over to dota 2. Don’t believe me? Ask any pro HoN team in america. (Msi and reason gaming and other EU teams excluded because those EU teams play this game for their jobs)

5. Every Friday, release a balance patch like riot games and explain why you did it. Don’t just nerfbat random stuff or buff and don’t say anything. Look at the videos Riot games release on youtube. It gets 200k+ views for a reason. Like so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkdP-Xp0N6o

Hey Moon, why don’t you stick to feeding with Flint Beastwood to easy lanes and then whining all day in VoIP about how it was Daggius’ fault?

I think you do a much better job as that because you’re one of the worst players I’ve ever seen in this game. Oh let’s not forget your own clanmates making fun of how bad you are and making you ragequit the game.
