Long story short, there were some wires that got crossed after I won the auction.
The resolution:

The cat was not included in what they sent

 

Wow, wtf?? They sent me the full run of X-O #1; all the variants, one signed by Robert Venditti, and the gold edition that I actually won.
They also sent me a full run of #2 and #3, AND the trade paperback from X-O classic.

Big, huge, uber props to Valiant and Adam Freeman for going above and beyond the call of duty and proving to this old nerd that Valiant Entertainment is still the greatest comic book company of all time.

Printed in extremely limited quantities, these iconic editions are designed to reward readers and retailers who go above and beyond when promoting Valiant Comics.
 
Valiant Gold Logo Editions are usually only awarded in special cases to the most ardent of Valiant fans who display their loyalty in unique and public ways. However, to officiate Valiant’s summer 2012 return to publishing, Valiant is auctioning off three extremely rare X-O Manowar #1 Gold Logo Editions with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the benefit of the Wounded Warriors Project.
